Luis grew up in Bethesda, Maryland where he developed an interest in Military and Law Enforcement. He attended Norwich University, a military school in Northfield Vermont where he received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 1999. After college, Luis pursued his passion for helping others by becoming a volunteer Firefigher/EMT with the Olney/Sandy Spring Fire Department, achieving the rank of Firefighter III, and Cardiac Rescue Technician (EMT-I). During this same time, Luis began working for a Senior Living Company with multiple locations throughout the United States. His initial role started at the Community in Silver Spring Maryland, working as a Security Supervisor/EMT. Luis spent 20+ years with the same Senior Living Company progressing through greater roles and responsibilities, including Security & Emergency Services Manager, Facility Manager, Corporate Regional Director, and Director of General Services. During his career, Luis spent time collaborating directly with Seniors living in various levels of care to include Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing/Short Term Care. His primary role was supporting their health, safety, security, and comfort. Luis has developed firsthand experience in assessing home safety and he maintains a wide network of vendors who deal with all aspects of home safety, accessibility, and smart home technology, and home maintenance. His goal continues to be supporting Seniors in continuing their independence through creating a safe and secure home environment.
